TOTI SUBMARINE VR EXPERIENCE: A Unique Virtual Reality Adventure
TOTI SUBMARINE VR EXPERIENCE offers a one-of-a-kind virtual reality adventure on board the Enrico Toti submarine. Developed by FONDAZIONE MUSEO NAZIONALE DELLA SCIENZA E DELLA TECNOLOGIA LEONARDO DA VINCI, this educational and immersive app allows users to explore the submarine through two different experiences.
In the "Escape immersion! - Adventure on board" experience, players take on the role of a machinist on the Toti submarine. Embark on a mission in the Mediterranean Sea in 1990 and follow your officer's instructions to complete a fast immersion and escape from enemy aircraft. The app features 360° spherical photographic images captured on board, exclusive sound effects from the Italian Navy Submarine School, and interactive animated objects to enhance the realism of the experience.
The "Guided Tour - Explore the submarine" experience allows users to explore the entire submarine, from the launch room to the engine room. A voice guide provides information about the different rooms, technological equipment, and shares interesting anecdotes and stories about life on board. The app also includes hidden "easter eggs" with entertaining stories that are not shared by museum guides.
To fully immerse yourself in the experience, the app recommends using a custom VR Cardboard viewer available for purchase at the Museum bookshop in Milan or a generic viewer from online stores. However, the app can also be used in 2D mode without a viewer.
